School Lunch

Click here to see this menu from week commencing 5th September 2023 until the 29th March 2024.

Children may have a cooked lunch, or they may bring a packed lunch from home. Alternatively, you may wish to take your child home for the lunch-time break.

School Meals - free for all primary school pupils from Sept 2023

As the number of children taking up the offer of a free school lunch has increased it is important that you pre-book your child’s school lunch from home. This will also give you an opportunity of seeing what is on the menu each day and to discuss with your child what they would like to eat. This is very helpful with the younger children as they do not always know what to choose. A lot of time is taken up each morning with the children choosing their lunches!

New parents will be sent a link to access the site. Existing parents will have been sent the link in the past.  If you are unable to access the site or wish to have your password reset, please email the office on: admin@st-martinporres.haringey.sch.uk

Remember all school meals are free for all pupils from September 2023.  However, If you are in receipt of benefits and were already eligible for free school meals under the previous scheme it is vitally important that you complete your borough’s registration form in case your child is eligible for extra funding for their school from the Government, worth £1,300 per year. That’s extra money to go the school to help towards paying for extra curricular activities and trips throughout the year.

We recommend that at least two week’s notice is given to the School Secretary if your child wishes to change from a School lunch to a packed lunch or vice versa. This is to minimise inconvenience to kitchen staff who must order food supplies on a monthly basis.

Packed Lunches

Children having a packed lunch should bring it in a box with their name clearly marked.  (A carrier bag is unsuitable for your child's lunch).  As we are promoting healthy eating, we do not like the children to bring sweets or chocolate as part of their packed lunch.  When preparing your child's packed lunch, please bear in mind the following:

It is not possible for the lunch boxes to be refrigerated in School and this may affect what you pack for your child.

  • We are a 'Nut Free School'.  There are several children within the School who have a “severe nut intolerance”, and therefore all nuts and nut-related products are not allowed in the school.

  • All packed lunch boxes are collected at registration in the morning and they are stored on trolleys in the dining area. The children do not have access to their lunch boxes until lunch-time.

The School provides drinking water for the children to drink with either their School or packed lunch. Please do not send in other drinks.

At lunch-time, the children are supervised in the playground by the School Meals Supervisory Assistants (SMSA) and the School has six of these assistants.
