Late Gate Week: 19th - 23rd February!

posted 12 Feb 2018, 07:49 by St Martin of Porres   [ updated 12 Feb 2018, 07:56 ]

We have noticed that a number of children are regularly arriving late to school. All children should arrive before the gates to the playground close at 8:55am. This enables the register to be called at 9:00am and lessons to start at 9:05am. If one child is late the learning for all the other children in their class can be delayed.

During the week after half term the senior teachers will standing at the top gate and will be noting down the names of children arriving at school later than 8:55am. We are sure that, with the slightly brighter mornings, there will not be too many names to record.

As part of our health and drugs education curriculum, we have arranged for the Life Education Mobile Classroom to visit the school again on Thursday 18th and Friday 19th January 2018. This is an annual visit which provides progressive lessons, teaching the children about the importance of their bodies and how to take care of them. From the ages of 7/8 they will be shown how their bodies could be harmed by the misuse of drugs and other substances.
There will be a special session for parents/carers on Thursday 18th January 3 - 3.15pm. More information is included in this week's newsletter.
